Russia invites Google, Apple to discuss interference into elections

MOSCOW, Sep 15 (PRIME) -- The sovereignty committee of Russia’s Federation Council, the parliament’s upper house, has invited representatives of Google and Apple in relation to the interference into the country’s elections, the committee’s head Andrei Klimov told PRIME on Wednesday.

“It is decided to discuss at the committee’s meeting the matters related to meddling from the part of the U.S. digital platforms into the elections to the State Duma (the parliament’s lower house) of the Russian Federation. Official representatives of Google and Apple are invited to the meeting,” Klimov said.

The committee will meet on Thursday.

Klimov said the official letters were sent to the companies, which are in the area of interest and the committee has a lot of questions to them.

Russia holds the legislative elections on Sunday.
